YA!y For Doing Good is a project that I've been working on for quite a while. Every time there's a disaster or a need, I see how the YA community lights up my twitter feed, and I've met so many amazing people who volunteer for and donate to so many great causes. I'm still figuring out the logistics, but until I do, I really wanted to celebrate all of you wonderful volunteers and donors.
What better day than on the National Day of Service?
So, here's the deal: To enter this contest, all you have to do is volunteer your time for a good cause. I don't care which cause, and how much time you volunteer is up to you. If you can only give an hour to mow your elderly neighbor's lawn because you're a senior who is also on the basketball team and debate team (or a new mom or dad!,) that's giving your best. If you give ten hours a week to a pediatric facility or the local food bank or helping out at your school because you can, that's fantastic.
I'm going to be running this blog on an honor system. I have no way of checking anyone's claims, but I would like to think that I'm not asking too much for a little bit of honesty. Volunteering can be an amazing experience and it's a great feeling to know that you made a difference in someone's life.
The winner gets to choose 2 prizes from the prize vault. I'm limiting the contest to US and Canada only because international shipping is unfortunately pricey (shipping and the books come out of my own pocket, which means less available to donate to my own favorite charities!)
